Refinery and Chemical Plants

Temporary Supply of Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Hydrogen

When your normal supply of industrial gases are unable to meet the flow, pressure or temperature of your temporary requirements, or your supply has been interrupted, Linde Services can help satisfy your temporary supply needs. With a fleet of pumpers, vaporizers, transports and tube trailers nearly any combination of pressure temperature and flow rate can be supplied for hours, days or months.

Nitrogen Purging

We use nitrogen to safely purge potentially explosive hydrocarbon and air mixtures from vessels, gas lines, transfer lines and equipment.

Drying

Full Service Drying is a complete problem-solving package for drying process systems. When drying a process system with nitrogen, the use of our Mobile Nitrogen Pumpers can provide nitrogen at high flow (up to 540,000 scf per hour per unit), high pressure (up to 6,000 psi) and high temperatures (up to 600°F, 315.6°C). These capabilities, combined with the -90°F (-67.8°C) dew point of nitrogen, promote efficient removal of moisture from process systems which translates into time and money savings.

Our Dry Air Service complements other refinery turnaround services and offers another alternative to drying process systems. This service can deliver 100% oil-free air at dew points as low as -90°F (-67.8°C) using multi-bed desiccant dryers. The flow rate of each unit is approximately 75,000 standard cubic feet an hour and multiple units are available to meet your needs. Each unit can deliver pressure up to 125 psig, which allows for moisture removal by entrainment. All equipment is mobilized, operated and maintained by our personnel, reducing or even eliminating the need for customer site personnel during the drying process.

Cooling

Reactors operating at elevated temperatures must be cooled down prior to reactor entry when the catalyst has become fouled. Our once-through and Nicool® reactor cooling services offer efficient and unique ways to do just that.

A once-through cool down can be performed on any reactor. Cool gas is introduced into the reactor and flows through it to remove the heat from the catalyst, allowing it to be safely removed. If an appropriate recycle compressor is available, Nicool® Service uses liquid nitrogen, controlled by our proprietary system to cool the recirculating gas which then cools the catalyst. The use of this system can reduce nitrogen consumption to a third of what is needed without the recycle compressor.

Blanketing

Blanketing gases such as nitrogen and carbon dioxide are commonly used as protective atmospheres in storage tanks and vessels containing flammable liquids or solids to prevent fire or explosion. These gases are also used to maintain a dry inert atmosphere to prevent corrosion of industrial cleaned piping and vessels.

Cleaning

Whether you have a fired heater, or pipeline that has become dirty or new piping that needs cleaning, we offer a complete line of cleaning and drying services that can be tailored to each of your individual projects. An engineering analysis will determine which option will meet your cleaning and dew point specifications in the most cost-effective way possible.

One of our most frequently requested methods is the SANDJET™  service for internally cleaning both fired heaters and  industrial piping. Using high-velocity, nitrogen-propelled, non-hazardous cleaning materials, the SANDJET service is often the fastest, most effective method available for cleaning.
