Gaseous nitrogen is commonly used for blanketing — protecting a process from moisture intrusion, oxidation, degradation and contamination. Additional uses include purging, pressure transferring, mixing and capturing air emissions. Cryogenic liquid nitrogen is used to control the temperature in reactor cooling applications and to preserve biological samples.


Critical for cell growth applications, oxygen is used in fermenters and bioreactors.

Carbon Dioxide

Carbon dioxide is used throughout the pharmaceutical market. As a gas, it is used in bench top incubators. In manufacturing, it is used in super critical fluid chromatography. And in wastewater treatment, it is used for self-buffered pH control.

Dry Ice

At temperatures of -109°F (-79°C) and below, dry ice provides the cooling capacity needed to transport temperature sensitive products.


Linde’s advances in liquid-nitrogen-based lyophilization technology have provided customers with greater operational flexibility, improved reliability and fewer maintenance demands. Our patented NCOOL™ heat exchanger has a refrigeration efficiency of > 95% and uses significantly less nitrogen than alternative cryogenic refrigeration systems. With high turn down capability, a compact footprint, and environmentally friendly operation, Linde’s NCOOL technology is ideal for today’s demanding lyophilization requirements.

Using direct oxygen injection and proprietary mixing technology, Linde can help overcome dissolved oxygen limitations and expand the productivity of aerobic microbial fermentation by up to 65%.

Linde’s cryogenic VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) Recovery systems allow customers to comply with stringent emission regulations. By inducing simultaneous nucleation of all the vials inside the freeze dryer chamber, our ControLyo™ technology can deliver improved product uniformity, quality and yield, while reducing cycle times by up to 40%.
Our non-freezing direct and indirect cooling equipment provides the rapid cooling and precise temperature control required for reaction and process optimization. Repository Equipment & Services

Linde has a complete repository offering including cryogenic storage freezers, cryoshippers, controlled rate freezers and O2 monitors. We also design and build CO2 back up systems for -80C° freezers, changeover panels, and a variety of gas handling equipment. As a fully integrated supplier, Linde provides cryogenic liquid nitrogen in dewars, microbulk and bulk tanks.
